BLESSED WHILE WAITING

My trip to the dealership for an oil change is normally performed in less than one hour with an appointment, but today the wait for my car to be serviced was unusually long. I didn't mind because I engaged in a great and encouraging conversation with a stranger. Anytime you want to talk about Jesus, everything is put away and the clock no longer exists. You have my attention. I had a long wait, but because of this, I was encouraged by a stranger.

A long wait can cause frustration and aggravation to a person, but it can be a blessing. A long wait in one place may prevent you from being in another place, avoiding some unwanted circumstance. A long wait can position you to be in a place to receive favor right where you are. It can also allow you to have a chance meeting with someone to encourage you or change your world.

I was blessed in so many ways by the words that poured from the stranger's mouth. I really hate our talk had to end so soon. No, I didn't get her name, but I did tell her to look me up on Facebook if she wants. Maybe she will. Maybe she won't. Maybe the Lord caused our paths to cross to encourage one another for that time and that time only. No matter what happens, I'm grateful for my long wait today.

Be blessed.

  1. As the most impatient person on the planet, with an even worse fiance, I love this post!! It's so true that God leads us through life and sometimes he needs to force us to slow down so he can teach us something :)

  2. I love the kindness of strangers. and I love that your long wait was a time of encouragement. often we hate waiting and are frustrated by it, so when a blessing comes from it - that is always an encouragement!

thanks for reminding others to be that blessing during frustrating times!

    much love!

  3. I'm so glad that God forces me to wait sometimes. It's easy to get frustrated. But instead, I like to start a conversation with a stranger. And before you know it, neither of us is pouting any longer. We are both smiling and enjoying "a moment". Thank you for sharing!

  5. How lovely that you were able to take this perspective on waiting - and walked through the door that God cracked open in that conversation.

  6. HI Misty,

I often think of these things as well, when I am delayed :-). It does draw me nearer to our God as I learn to place my trust in Him in all circumstances.

Many thanks for sharing this encouragement.

    Wishing you a Happy Christmas

  7. I love this post! Thanks for sharing your experience to help us see things differently too. I think we need to be open to the Lord working in our lives in every situation, even in our waiting like you shared. I recently did a post about waiting as well. God bless!

    1. Thank you.

When we are open to Jesus and learn to flow with Him, we can see such amazing things happen. Yes, even during times of waiting, He has something for us.

      Be blessed.
